(For national rejuvenation · Heroes and martyrs spectrum) Wan King Kong: a loyal defender dedicated to his mission
Xinhua News Agency, Urumqi, March 16 (Liu Xin, Wang Guoyin) The honor room of a squadron of the Urumqi Detachment of the Xinjiang Armed Police Corps at the foot of Tianshan Mountain displays the statue and deeds of the martyr Wan King Kong. Every year when new recruits enter the camp, the first activity is to visit the Wanking Kong Honor Room. Every night, the roll call is always the first to call "Wanking Kong", and the officers and men of the whole squadron answer "Yes" in unison. Over the years, the officers and men of the squadron have continued this tradition, inheriting the spirit of "King Kong" and striving to be the descendants of "King Kong".

Wan Jingang, born in August 1978, is a native of Bole, Xinjiang. He enlisted in the army in December 1995. That year, Wan Jingang, who was on vacation, received a phone call reporting that there were people gathering in the squadron patrol area and there were signs of trouble. When he learned that the instructor was going to take the soldiers to strengthen the strength, he immediately said, "I am the squadron leader, and I will go first if there is a task," and then rushed to the scene to prepare for it quickly.
During the confrontation with the rioting crowd, some people began to smash passing vehicles. In order to protect the lives and property of the people, Wan King Kong quickly led the soldiers to disperse, and was attacked by bricks and stones.
When he saw the deputy squad leader Jiang Xingwei being knocked to the ground, he pulled him up, handed him over to the second squad leader Liu Zhenghui, and shouted, "Get out!" Just then, Wan Jingang was hit by a stone on the head. When the reinforcements forcibly dispersed the siege crowd to rescue him, Wan Jingang had fallen to the ground with blood flowing from his head, and was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. In the end, due to his severe injuries, the rescue was ineffective and he died heroically.
Wan King Kong often said that the task of dealing with emergencies and maintaining stability is arduous and arduous, and we must always be ready to go to the front line and take the lead. No matter what position he is in, he always keeps in mind his duties and missions, fights wits and courage with lawbreakers, completes tasks well, and fulfills the oath of loyal guards with practical actions. Since joining the army, he has led officers and soldiers to assist the public security organs in dealing with 308 emergencies and arrested 502 alleged offenders such as drug trafficking, robbery, and counterfeit banknotes.
Ma Yuangang, the leader of the sixth class of the squadron, had tears in his eyes: "I am a new recruit brought by Captain Wan. Although the old captain is gone, his spirit will always be there." The squadron designated August 8, Wan Jingang’s birthday, as the "Learning Wanking Kong Theme Day", organized party members to review the oath of joining the party, carried out the "My Hero Road" keynote speech, and designated this day as the collective birthday of officers and soldiers. The spirit of "Wanking Kong" shone brightly on the officers and soldiers, inspiring everyone to train and prepare for battle, and deal with all emergencies at any time.
Actions speak louder than words. The squadron camp is the smallest in the whole detachment, but the training results are among the best in the detachment. In the mass training competition, the squadron officers and soldiers can achieve excellent results. In 2019, the squadron leader Kasmujiang broke the detachment record with 10 shots in the night application shooting class.
The heroes fell, and the comrades-in-arms carried the banner and continued the unfinished business. After Wan Jingang’s sacrifice, the Xinjiang Armed Police Corps continued to carry out activities to "learn the spirit of’King Kong ‘, practice’King Kong’ skills, and be’King Kong ‘descendants", cultivating a large number of counter-terrorism warriors.
