Building an Open, Inclusive and Cooperative World (International Forum, Centennial Change and China’s Contribution)

The world is facing multiple challenges. Countries, especially major powers, need to build consensus instead of going their own way, and need open cooperation instead of closed division.

The world is experiencing a great change that has never happened in a hundred years. History profoundly reveals that during the period of great changes, there are often many contradictions, and the implementation of unilateralism and power politics by hegemonic countries can easily lead to confrontation and conflict. Countries in great changes, especially big countries, need to work together to safeguard security and cooperation and promote peace and development.

The rise of emerging market countries and developing countries has a profound impact on the adjustment of the world political and economic map. By implementing the open policy and joining the multilateral system, developing countries are accelerating their economic development. Over the years, the proportion of developing countries in the world economy and their role in the international industrial division of labor have greatly increased, and they have increasingly become the main power source of world economic growth. With the in-depth development of economic globalization and the deep integration of the world economy, the links between developed countries and developing countries have become increasingly close, forming an interdependent industrial chain, supply chain and interest chain.

As the largest developing country, China’s economic aggregate ranks second in the world, and its comprehensive national strength has greatly improved. The comprehensive national strength of emerging market countries such as India, Brazil and Indonesia has also been greatly improved. As the only superpower in the world today, the United States is anxious about the comparative changes of global powers. On occasions such as the G-7 summit and NATO summit, the United States constantly exaggerates confrontational feelings and engages in group politics. These negative actions are intensifying contradictions, splitting the world and increasing the risk of confrontation between big countries.

Big countries should not only show their responsibility in dealing with global challenges, but also set an example for promoting benign interaction among big countries and promoting the improvement of global governance. At the 14th meeting of BRICS leaders held in June this year, the participants emphasized the importance of openness, tolerance, cooperation and win-win, which represented the expectations of emerging market countries and developing countries for the future direction of international relations. As a responsible big country, China firmly upholds true multilateralism, advocates the principles of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation among big countries, promotes the deepening of coordination and cooperation among big countries, and promotes the overall stable and balanced development of the international structure, which is conducive to world peace and development and win-win cooperation.

The world is facing multiple challenges, the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic is unprecedented, the threat of climate change to global ecological, economic and social development is unprecedented, and the instability and uncertainty brought about by the adjustment of the international pattern are unprecedented. Whether it is to curb the epidemic as soon as possible, deal with climate change, promote economic and social development, and maintain global peace and security, it is inseparable from the healthy and stable development of major power relations. Countries, especially major powers, need to build consensus instead of going their own way, and need open cooperation instead of closed division to build an open, inclusive and cooperative world.
