At 3 am the day before yesterday, the weather in Beijing was slightly hot, and there was no traffic light at an intersection on Gaobeidian North Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing. A black R300 Mercedes-Benz was speeding on the road. Bang! Only a loud noise was heard, and people were surprised to find that the Elantra taxi that drove into the intersection on the right was instantly pushed over by the Mercedes-Benz to the telephone pole at the intersection, and the front face of the Mercedes-Benz was also hit beyond recognition. The taxi driver and passengers were injured to varying degrees. One person walked off the Mercedes-Benz, and the injured Xiao Wang said that the person was covered in alcohol. On closer inspection, it turned out to be Zhou Jie, who played Erkang in "Huanzhu Gege"… and the Mercedes-Benz that caused the accident did not have a number plate hanging from the front and rear. Afterwards, the police found the number plate in the trunk.
Investigation one
Was the perpetrator Zhou Jie?
Zhou Jie: Yesterday, the reporter contacted Zhou Jie’s agent, Wang Jiange, and she said she had not heard of this. Zhou Jie’s publicist, Mr. Li, also told the reporter, "I also learned about this from the Internet, and the Internet did not confirm it."
Description: At Chaoyang Hospital in Beijing, Xiao Liu, 24, said she and a colleague, Xiao Wang, took a taxi home at 3:50 p.m., and the taxi drove from north to south on Gaobeidian North Road until it turned left at the intersection. "It was just past the intersection," Xiao Liu said. Suddenly, a black vehicle from the south rushed towards the taxi. The driver, the injured person said, was Zhou Jie, the actor who starred in "Huanzhu Gege."
Witnesses: Mr. Sha and other witnesses said that Zhou Jie was the only one in the Mercedes-Benz, shouting "how did you drive? Why didn’t you look at the traffic lights?" "The police left the scene before they arrived." Mr. Sha said he also saw that the owner was Zhou Jie.
Traffic control department: Yesterday afternoon, the reporter obtained a fact sheet from the Beijing Municipal Traffic Management Bureau. The investigation document said: "According to the investigation, the owner of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle is named Zhou Jie." The traffic control department did not identify Zhou Jie.
Survey two
Does it count as a hit-and-run?
Zhou Jie: Since Zhou Jie himself could not be contacted, and the agent also said he did not know, Zhou Jie’s own statement cannot be known. However, the traffic control department’s information note quoted Zhou Jie as saying: "After the accident, I felt physical discomfort, chest tightness, and dizziness, so I went to the hospital for examination and treatment."
Description: Wang said he had crawled out of the windshield after the incident. The glass was shattered, Liu was squeezed into the overturned car, and the driver was trapped inside. Doctors said Liu had broken ribs and ankles; Wang had three stitches in his ear and multiple cuts; and the taxi driver suffered head and lung injuries. Zhou Jie was not rescued throughout the process, and Zhou Jie left the scene before the police arrived.
Traffic control department: In the information note of the Beijing Municipal Traffic Management Bureau, there is such a paragraph: "At 3:53 on June 2, 2009, the Shuangqiao Brigade of Chaoyang Traffic Detachment received a report. One of the reports was a person claiming to be the victim’s surname Zhou, and reported the license plate numbers of both parties to the receiving police. Not counting the hit-and-run accident." The information note also mentioned that the traffic management bureau did take a lot of trouble to find Zhou Jie after the incident, and Zhou Jie himself went to Chaoyang Traffic Detachment at 4 pm yesterday to accept the treatment.
Investigation three
Do you drink alcohol while driving?
Agent: Zhou Jie’s agent, Wang Jiange, denied his drinking, telling reporters: "As far as I know, Zhou Jie doesn’t drink on weekdays."
Description of the injured: The injured Wang said that after climbing out of the taxi, he could smell the alcohol on Zhou Jie’s body, and witnesses also said that Zhou Jie’s body was full of alcohol and left the scene before the police arrived.
